An industry leader in coin counters and kiosk solutions approached Northgate Digital to architect and implement their self-service coin platform. In use at bank branches throughout the United Kingdom and northeastern United States, the systems count over $25 million in coin each year.
Architecture began with looking for ways to maximize ROI for the client. Northgate Digital designed the coin platform to be configurable with support for multiple animations, coin counters, and peripherals for easy private-labeling and system expansion. An easy-to-use administration tool was created for field technicians to be able to quickly configure and upgrade the machines. Using multiple languages and technologies, Northgate Digital staff crafted the software systems behind the coin counters including all communication protocols, touchpanel interface, animation controllers, receipt printing and administrative tools.
Ensuring proper function and reliability in a high-volume retail environment required rigorous quality assurance. Once software development was complete, Northgate Digital subjected both the hardware and software to weeks of automated stress testing and simulated users to ensure no problems would arise once the system was deployed to the field.
